KOETZ, Leroy Earl., 84 , affectionately nicknamed "Sonny", passed away in Pensacola, Florida March 24, 2009. He was born March 31, 1924, and raised, in Glenview, IL. A graduate of New Trier High School, Wilmette, Illinois-class of 1942, Leroy served proudly as a submariner in the Navy during WWII and was an active member of the USS Batfish (SS 310) reunions in Muskogee, Oklahoma. Leroy and Mary Ann resided in Deerfield, Illinois for 30 years and he worked as an electrical contractor for self-owned Glenview Electric before retiring to Pensacola in 1979. He was a retired member of electrician's union IBEW 134. He was preceded in death by parents Leroy Max and Pearl Marie. Husband of Mary Ann, nee Henrickson; father of Leroy J., John R., Marilee (Pat) Dalbey, and Amy (Tim) Hughes; grandfather of Timothy, Sarah and Elizabeth Hughes, Jason and Megan Dalbey, and Jeffrey and Jena Koetz; and brother of Carol Jean (Delmar) Johnson. A memorial service is to be held on Saturday, March 28 at 11 A.M. at Mustin Beach Officer's Club at Pensacola Naval Air Station. The family would like to thank the staff at Creekside Senior Village and Covenant Hospice. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Leroy E.
