School of the boat for 29 July 08

Since we have identified the tanks now and the capacities for most of them, name the tanks in the Forward torpedo room and in the Officer's quarters...

I'll get the important one out first - Torpedo Alcohol Tank is in the for Forward Torpedo Room.  But the two compartments do have a lot of tanks... ;D

This is fun! Thanks Darrin, another great assignment.

There are mulitiple tanks in the Forward Torpedo Room and the Officers quarters and while I have to agree that the Alcohol tank is/was one of the most important tank in both area's the question still remains. ;)

Ok folks on this one it appears that I need to help a little with tracking this one down..... when you go to the Fleet Submarine Manual and look up the tanks section you will find a diagram of the layout of these tanks.  good luck folks and thanks for the words of encouragment not to stop these

I'll list a few but not all.
Forward Torpedo Room tanks include:
Torpedo Oil Tank
Hydraulic Emergency Vent and Replenishing Tank
Mineral Oil Tank
Three Reseve Hydraulic Oil Tanks
Poppet Valve Drain Tank
Forward Water Round Torpedo Tank
#1 Sanitary Tank (remember blowing sanitaries?)

Forward Battery (Officers Quarters) include:
#1 and 2 Fresh Water Tanks
Battery Water Tank

This will leave you a few more major tanks in each compartment.  #1 Sanitary is located in one of the other tanks. The rest should be easy.

What does the "WRT" stand for in the WRT Tank?  I didn't look real hard, but I couldn't find a definition.

Water Round Torpedo - The WRT tanks are normally used to flood or drain the torpedo tubes through their flood and drain lines.  The forward trim tank can also be used to either supply or remove water to the WRT tanks through their flood and drain valves to the WRT tanks.

Make sure on one sends you looking for a golden rivet or a left hand monkey wrench.  The nuc guys might send you looking for a primary loop.

You''ll learn quick. Get a can of diesel oil and keep it open in the kitchen, in fact instead of those house fresheners, use diesel oil. A little in the coffee will help too.  :crazy2:

A little off topic, but I believe if we could create a candle or an air freshener that smelled like the inside of a diesel submarine, we could make millions!   :2funny:
