Anybody want to show up on Friday the 20th of February? We're having a lot of school kids come through...hopefully. Anyone that wants to participate in our living history weekend that weekend is welcome as well. Just contact me off the forum for info or go to www.ss310.com.

I would join up and do it if only thr military had long hair. ;) I could always go for a Women's Auxiliary and put it in a bun. That's a little Klinger though. ;D

How long are we talking? Like two months long or two years long? Two months long would be about right but much longer than that would be a stretch.

Yea,  He is my resident thug.   A little wiry though.  I'll have to work on that one.     :2funny:

John come on out.   I can put you on the front desk to manage the museum.

Well, it's almost time for the next living history weekend. Anyone wanting to come out and support the event is more than welcome. August 13th and 14th (Friday and Saturday) with some work being done on Sunday I suspect. ;)

Hi

Have you had a live radio  operator there before?

I think I remember you guys being tin the radio shack on one event weekend (Feb 2008?), but it wasn't part of our tour.  So, this will be a first.  Normally, we have the same CW tape playing over and over and over...  I think it will be a real treat to hear static crashes, odd noises and other CW contacts that you encounter while changing frequencies, etc.

We're slowly bringing her back to life.  Supposedly, a groan was heard out of the old girl when she was decommissioned.  Not sure if it's true or just more sailor lore.  ;-)

In reguards to the goran.  This is a true story as relayed by Dennis.

I hope that the old girl starts to feel like she has a new family...

She once again has a loving crew that hopes to breathe life back into her. I call her my mistress and my wife tends to agree. ;D

I haven't posted on this thread in about 7 years so what the hell...here's an update. ;)

The Batfish Living History Association is now in its 10th year. Our living history crew continues to grow and pour life into our ol girl. Many of the crew are nearing 100 days of 24-hour life aboard. I recently hit 160. Many of these guys are starting to get near the equivalent of two patrols...and it shows. They have an understanding of this boat that makes me smile.

Here's to another 10 years of this program!  :D
