USS Cobia radar
« on: March 14, 2008, 11:30:20 AM »
User Tom McNulty ("K0EFV") sent these pictures to me to show you guys per request of Tom Bowser of the Drum.  K0EFV said he has more pictures if you'd like to see them.  Here is the working radar inside the Cobia.

Nice pics!  Ask him to post a video some time of the unit firing/warming up and its operation.

Maybe we should see if we can get that guy to come help restore Batfish's radar. When Rick and I looked at it, it looked almost completely intact.

Yeah, Batfish has the newer SS radar in the conning tower.  There are two electrical boxes in the control room that operate it.  We were in the pump room on Saturday and we noticed electrical generators and other electrical boxes for the radio room and such.  Pretty complicated wiring scheme.  It would be great if someone that has already jumped through the burning hoops came out to the boat and showed us what we needed to do.

Again, the first thing that has to happen is hooking up power to the control room switch boards and Rick is all for this, but the Navy has emphasized that her deck is the #1 priority.
