New website undertaking for USS Drum (SS-228).  Very much under construction.  Much more to come ASAP.

Feedback requested.

I like the website a lot.  Easy to navigate and it gets right to the point.

Hey Lance...you didn't keep that secret very long   :D

You've done a lot of work since yesterday...looking really good my friend.

Can I go ahead and add this to the Batfish links page?

Thank you!

And sure, go ahead and link if you like.

I still have to add in much more about the mechanical aspects of the Drum and configuration.

I'm talking with John Clear about getting the war patrol reports (just have to send in the cash) and adding them to the website.  A whopping 13 patrols, wow.  You'll be my inspiration for that part MWALLEN.  I like how you even have photos on the war patrol reports of the Batfish.

I also have to add in donation information, volunteering information, etc.

Want to add in what businesses have donated materials and/or equipment.

Lots more.

As long as you keep adding pages and don't cram it all into a few, you'll be fine.  I like the size of the font that you used and the fact that i can see white space.  I still shudder at some of the early web pages back in the mid-90's.  Nothing but a sea of text with as many colors to blind you as possible.   :o

Thanks!  It should be the same as what you see on the webpages here, as I used the style.css file from here to build with.

I usually use MS Publisher, which isn't the best for website generation, but it's what I bothered to install onto my computer from the Office Pro 2007 disc.  I really like the duplicate page feature and that it automatically generates radio buttons on each page.

I'm oldschool and use plain old notepad.exe.  I tried WYSIWYG editors, but they drove me nuts.

Lots of updates done.  Now I just have to get my hands on the war patrol reports from John Clear.  I'm also looking for ANY historical photos of the Drum that I can use freely.  (FREELY is the key word.)

Take a new look, refresh the page.  :)

Oh...it is looking good...can't wait to see those patrol reports.  Oh wait...I have them.   ;D

Seriously, you've done a great job in just a few days.  Can't wait to see it in the near future.

Nice!!!   :smitten:

Oops thanks.

What I need is for my laptop keyboard to work!  The "w" key and the "y" key I have to bang for them to work anymore.

Feel free to try out the "Guestbook".  It seems to work for me, but I'm getting reports from others that they were not able to send a post in due to some kind of timeout.  I can't replicate it.  If you want to make a test post, just let me know it's a test and I can delete it afterwards.  :)

Woohoo!  It's alive!  Man that was the easiest Guestbook install I've ever done.  I highly recommend Lazarus's Guestbook if you ever want to use the thing.  You just have to be able to create a new MySQL database on your server to use it.  Not too hard though.

I found the trouble with the signing thing.  There was a timeout set for the time it takes to create and send an entry.  I removed it or lengthened it or something.

That's pretty technical...but glad you got it figured out   ;D

I do mine differently mostly because I get some nuts that write crap...so I edit, then post.  Besides, I'm too lazy now to switch it over.
