Batfish Memorial Day Details
« on: April 21, 2008, 10:25:12 AM »
Rick,

What is the specific schedule for Memorial Day (Monday) and how do you envision the reenactors being involved?  I think our tour gig wraps up on Saturday evening with a lot of people probably leaving on Sunday.  Also, most guys don't have period dress white uniforms.  Any participants would be grubby looking/smelling guys in dungarees.  I'll probably head home on Sunday morning and then come back on Monday.

We were just on OklaTravelnet.com with this one.  They aired a live broadcast yesterday at 1300 and will again on memorial day.  We will be open until 1600 (maybe later0 for visits and tours.  The boat WILL be closed during the cerimony at 1100.  Hotdogs and sodas will be served shortly after....

John,
You had best be here.  Remember I have contacts and guns.     :knuppel2:
Alos,  Just spoke with Mr Tiger.  17yoa and looks like he will be a big nelp.  I also have another big task for you on the weekend of Jun 12-14.  I will talk to you more about that when I see you.

I will be up there at 10 unless there is something starting sooner. Well, I guess I shall see everyone tomorrow.

It was a good start to the deck re-work.  I was sorry to see so few people come out, but I felt like we accomplished something.

Keep us posted on the next work date.  I'll be out in regular clothes the next few times - Oxfords beat my feet up.

Suzuki called up at the last minute and ruined everything. Me and then special Lady Friend were going to come out and pay our respects and take part, but they wouldn't budge. Instead I had a 3 hour haul and a sunburn. I should be back in Muskogee on Wed. or Thurs. I am going to have to rework this contract, this is unacceptable. I apoligize for not following through Rick.

So, how did the Memorial Day events pan out?

I hat to say that the attendance for the service was a little dissapointing.   I suspect a combination of early rain showeres and all of the other memorial events took its toll.  Ed Williams and his crew did an excellent job with the service.  The VFW boast was even available for honor guard duty.  This turned out very well..   We have the starts of something good here.  After the service.  we had a large turnout for tours on the boat itself.  I was there until 1730 trying to get everyone out and things cleaned up.

On a side note, I am leaving for Oklahoma today, but we are stopping for the night, so I wont be there until Thurs. I will try to be up there on Sat.

I think FUEL PRICES put a damper on all Memorial Day turnouts.  I'm trying to browse around and get a feel for turnouts at these events.
