Deck,,,
« on: April 07, 2008, 08:37:31 PM »
Does anyone have pics of the bridge deck.  I am working on that area.  It was covered w/ 2/4s and not very well at that.  I am missing some of the supporting structures, due to rust and cannot determin how the deck was originally put down....

I don't have a photo, but I have this image.  It was taken from "The Floating Drydock's PLAN BOOK: Gato & Balao Class Submarines".

I can email you a higher resolution if you'd like.  Let me know.

This will work nicely.  Ihave the deck from the bridge removed.  I may have to con Vaugh into doing some welding as some of the suppot structure is not in too good a shap.

Or get the Vo-Tech guys to come out to the boat and do it.  Welding in vertical supports should be elementary for them.

Is this going to prevent me from working on the 19th as we were going to continue our work on the 40mm?

The decking around the AA guns are metal.  The wood is mainly around the periscope sheers and bridge.  I think you'd be okay.

Agreed, but last Saturday we had to manuever around the gun and were using the wood decking for that.  We also were storing our equipment on the wood.

I can work around it no problem, just want to make sure we'll have room to work.

Mark A,
You will be able to work on the smoke deck.  It is just the area around the bridge and Pariscope shears that is missing right now.  It si still  navigatable with some dexterity though.

Mark S
Hold off on the High res photo.  This gives me the info that I need for now.  The High res will take too long to download at work and I will not have my DSL set up at home until at least Monday.

Just to avoid the confusion...it was me (Mark A., not Mark S.) that had the scan.  I'll hold off, just let me know if/when you want it.

Also...message received about the aft bridge...we'll continue on.  Thanks for the clarification.

Thanks Mark A.  sorry for the Pic confusions.  I am in the middle of moving my res.   I am very tired and not very well together right now.
