COD's VJ Day celebration picture
« on: August 16, 2010, 02:25:07 AM »
The temps soared into the 90's but it was dry...  thank God!    Boy was our VJ Day event a success!  We had three TV stations and the major newspapers alll covered it!  Must have been a slow news day as they say.  Our crew and reenactors did an outstanding job and brought eveyone back in time to 1945. The public got into the spirit of the event and loved the paper sailor and nurse hats!     :smitten:

The jitterbug dancers loved COD's deck for dancing and the refreshments went fast in the heat.  We had about 30 people in period costume show up and about 30 more jost for the kissing!  Good Day all around because we event had a few WW II vets (including a submarine veteran who sailed aboard several Manitowoc boats!)...

Glad that you guys had a great turn out.  We were supposed to have a TV crew, but I guess the heat scared them off.
