USS San Francisco and what happened
« on: March 16, 2009, 06:03:23 PM »
The link that I have here shows video of her coming home after the accident and accounts from the crew as to what happened during and then after the accident, FYI there are 6 fwd ballast tanks fwd 1A&B, 2A,B, 3A&B nearly ALL of the port side ballast tanks were ruptured in the accident and having just about half of your forward ballast tanks OOC and being able to surface is incredible along with a flooded sonar sphere and with the rest of the fwd ballast tanks either being warped or leaking slowly.

In a first of it's kind operation the bow of my qual boat the USS Honolulu was placed onto the USS San Francisco, while there have been other surface ships to have their bows replaced or submarines whom's sails have been badly damaged due to accidents this is the first time that a 688 has been cut up to save another.

FYI a "normal" 688 comes home with a bow UP angle and not a neutral or down angle
