Batfish Hydraulics
« on: March 10, 2008, 04:35:47 PM »
I remember Rick and other vets mentioning that they raised the Batfish periscopes with high pressure water from fire hoses.  Was this done through the existing hydraulic system or did they rig something up?

I'm told that WWII and 1960's era hydraulic fluids are both nasty stuff and you don't want to touch it.  If they used the existing hoses to raise the perscopes, then I'm assuming that some or all of the hydraulic system was drained before that happened.

Does anyone know/remember the details on this?
