« on: May 20, 2008, 11:22:25 PM »
Looks like my wife and I will be joining MWALLEN and his wife in a visit to Battleship Memorial Park on the 25th.  Looking forward to meeting up with Tom and/or Lesley!

I am looking forward to seeing you and Mark, hope both of you make it. Lesley won't be there, I think she is going fishing.

Cool, make sure to tell the gate and ticket office who you are and that you are there to see me. I will let them know to expect you.

Well, today my wife Emily and I met up with Tom Bowser and Mark Allen and his wife Leilani.  We had a great time.  It was so darn hot though!  More pics to come!

Oh, to Rick, Mark says "HELLO!"

Here is a link to all the pics I took today:

Those are some great pics Lance!

Did you manage to down any enemy aircraft with the 40?  ;D

No, but it is amazing how well Tom and Lesley have the guns working.  Mark and I were able to move 'em all over the place with ease.

We are going to start rebuilding the stern this week, if you look close you can see scafolding in place. We will only be able to work on her for two weeks and then we have to stop for the crew reunion and then will get back on it after that. It was great having Mark on board and I didn't even have to search him when he left, of course I kept a very close eye on him the whole time.

By the way Tom, my brother-in-law and sister-in-law, along with my niece and nephew visited the Park today (Memorial Day) on their way home from Florida.  They said they went through the Drum and the Alabama.  I described them to you and they said "Was he wearing a blue patch vest?" and I assumed you would be today.  They saw you in the control room talking it up with some visitors as they passed through.

They said the parking lot at the Park was full today.  Was it a good turnout for Memorial Day?

I wished they would have stopped and told me who they were. I had a great day was there from 0930 to 1830 and it was a busy day. I had a WWII subvet talking to the visitors for about 4 hours and he had a great time also. I have already talked to our subvet base commander and next year we will plan something for memorial day.

I just realized that I'd moved my pictures around and didn't update this thread.  Here are the pics from our last visit:

Mark, do you have any pictures from that day that you can share?
