Silversides new Mk37
« on: December 21, 2013, 10:57:43 AM »
The Silversides has a new Mark 37 torpedo for display. We want to say thank you to Dennis Gilbert and Rick Gilbert from the Batfish, also to Peter Papadakos from the Hawthorn ordnance museum in Nevada. My brother Tom who helped with the pick up and assembly. Merry Christmas to ALL.

That would be Rick Dennis, of the USS Batfish. Mr Gilbert is to be commended for all his hard work in making the torpedo project happen, like many others he has done before; but I don't think Rick is calling him Dad just yet!  :2funny:

From The Radio Club of the USS Batfish, we wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy Happy Happy New Year!

Tracey,

Glad you didn't post the pics of the last Mk 45 ASTOR load that we did a few years ago, it was not very pretty but it was brought onboard safely and has a nice home in the ATR, we also loaded a few Mk37's a few years ago and deck skids from the TROUT.. great time with a great crew

Yes, you can attach pics directly to your post. I had to cut down on the size of pictures allowed to attach to save space.  So if you try to attach a huge resolution photo it won't work.  But you can always host on another website and put the link here.

I'm so glad the Silversides got a new torpedo!

I hope they don't load it in the boat. First, it will take up room needed for scout overnights. Second, it doesn't fit the Silversides' historic presentation. She never would have carried a Mk. 37. If they want to load a torpedo, they should use the WWII versions in their parking lot.
