On 14 August 1945, Torsk completed her wartime career by sinking two small ships, Coast Defense Vessel No. 13 and Coast Defense Vessel No. 47 . Shortly after sinking the two vessels the Cease Fire went out to US Forces. This action earned Torsk the distinction of firing the last torpedo and sinking the last Japanese combatant ships of World War II.

64 years ago today!!!

You obviously have not HEARD OF "THE LAST VOYAGE OF THE USS CODFISH! "

 Just pick up a copy of the "Button Down Mind of Bob Newhart" and listen to the truly LAST US submarine sinkings of Japanese ships!

... and about that attack on Miami...

But seriously, I love telling visitors aboard COD, in our ATR, where our Mark 27 is on view, about TORSK and the last enemy ship sunk in WWII, and how they can visit that sub.  And many have!

We just celebrated our 50th in Cleveland, and the 64 anniversary of that infamous COD/O19 thankyou party in the Dutch Naval Club in Fremantle, Austrailia... the one that earned COD the martini glass on our battleflag!
