After Battery Well

Here are a couple pics from the Torsk's after battery well, our fwd battery well does not have stairs and uses a ladder and is used for archives.

One of our electricians put a power outlet at the base of the work bench (weist high) and they have added a number of tool boxes over the years down there to help with storing of the tools that have been donated/bought over the years. On the Port bulkhead there isn't a bench but we do have parts lockers for nuts, bolt, and misc repair parts and it has IMHO worked out well (but I am prejudiced and it is also the only WWII Diesel that I have worked on)

It's a good setup that you guys have.  It will be nice to bring equipment down there and work on it at our liesure without being in anyone's way.  It's hard to work on the 1MC, for example, when a tourist comes through every 15 minutes.

The curator has something to add:

Good work on utilizing these empty spaces. COD's AB space is also a workshop and storage area. Our FB is filled with concrete bricks, leaving about 3 1/2  feet of crawl space (used for curatorial storage).   The heavy traffic in the AB space required me to put inexpensive vinyl runner over the original rubber decking. This is historic fabric on the boat (and relatively delicate) and will eventually wear down to the metal underlayment and/or react to solvent spills.  You wouldn't want to destroy this rubber lined room, it is too valuable to lock up volunteers and staff!
