Sorry for the delay folks, been real damn busy with work and now that my son is going with his mom tomorrow to a different state to live I for some reason have time on my hands :( and the best thing that I can think to do from keeping me reasonably sane is conduct School of the boat to keep my mind off the fact that he will be gone for a month...... :-\


NOW the first place we are going to start off with is the TANKS..... for some of you this will be easy and figure out real quick where I am finding the information and those that have the manual at home or your boat specific manuals and notes will see that the submarine manual may be a little different then what you have because it was based off of a Balao submarine and not your boat...

What are the 4 groups of Ballast Tanks and what are their capacities????  Remember folks you have to give the location to where you found your answer so that ALL of us can find that out, i.e. Fleet Submarine Manual pg 22 paragraph 4

Four groups inlcude:
Main Ballast Tanks
Variable Ballast Tanks
Special Ballast Tanks
Fuel Oil Ballast Tanks

Main -
MBT 1 - 49,17 tons of sea water
MBT 2a,b,c,d - 129.03 tons of sea water
MBT 6a,b,c,s - 141.60 tonds of sea water
MBT 7 - 39.09 tons of sea water

Variable
Foward Trim - 24.31 tons of sea water
FWR WRT - 4.94 tons of sea water
Auxiliary Ballast 1 - 30.77 tons of sea water
Auxiliary Ballast 2 - 30.77 tons of sea water
After Trim - 19.97 tons of sea water
After WRT - 5.06 tons of sea water
Secondary purpose of the WRT tanks is to receive water drained from the torpedo tubs

Special
Safety - 23.23 tons of sea water
Negative - 7.51 tons of sea water
Bow Buoyancy - 31.69 tons of sea water

Fuel
Fuel Ballast 3a and b - 19,196 gallons
Fuel Ballast 4a and b - 24,089 gallons
Fuel Ballast 5a and b - 19,458 gallons

Fleet Type Submarine Manual, Chapter 4 - Tanks

I was just looking for the Main Ballast tanks for the answer but you went above and beyond on that one and while I only asked for 4 what is the 5th group??? and why is it important to know the answer to that one??? Because that is the School of the boat for tonight..
