Historic Moment

I just realized that when I hook up my laptop to the reproducers this weekend with the alarms and sound effects, that this will be the first time in about 39 years that general quarters or a diving alarm will be heard on the boat. It will be really historic when it's through the original 1MC system, but we'll take our successes where we can.

I hope it all turns out well. Maybe it will be something other boats can use.

It should work just fine. You can always find a big enough amp to power the speakers, but I'm going to start out with a portable radio/"boom box". Most of the speakers are 3 ohms and 20 watts max, which doesn't use a lot of juice.
